About THERAPEUTIC PAWS OF CANADA
Therapeutic Paws of Canada
is a national Non-Profit volunteer organization providing dog and cat visitation resources for human needs (physical, mental, educational, motivational, and socialization) through regular visits to hospitals, senior residences, schools, etc.
TPOC Child Certified teams can be found providing comfort and friendship to children in hospitals and treatment centres throughout Canada. We are proud to provide visiting teams to facilities such as the The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto or Ronald MacDonald homes where our volunteers brighten the day of some of the most vulnerable of patients.
As well, Child Certified teams bring the Paws To Read(r) program to community libraries, primary school and high schools.
The PAWS Room visits offer college and university students a chance to step away from the pressure and stress of exams and spend some time in a calm and friendly environment. Students spend time petting and talking to the dog, perhaps sharing stories of their own pets and enjoying the presence of a furry friend who is happy just to be with them. The change in mood is infectious - everyone leaves with a smile on their face, even the dogs!
