Who are we and where did we come from?

Torchlight Services began as Torchlight Industries in 1974.  We provided an answer to the special challenges adults with disabilities faced in finding and retaining gainful employment. The caring staff and the support of local businesses in our community resulted in a very successful vocational program.

Our Vocational Support program offered a realistic work environment located in our production/training facility where our participants learned basic work skills necessary to secure employment.

Times change and so did we!

In 2018, Torchlight Industries transitioned from a sheltered workshop into a Day Program for adults with disabilities.  We became Torchlight Services and focused our effort on providing meaningful, quality programming for our participants.  Torchlight Services encourages the full participation in activities within our facility and also strives to promote inclusion and acceptance in our community.

Fast-forward to January 2022. Torchlight adapted and continued to deliver our quality program both virtually and in person as we all rallied through the Covid-19 Pandemic. At the same time, we had to find a new home after 47 years on Edinburgh. Though a huge change, both participants and staff are pleased with our new space, new opportunities for community connections, and proximity to a huge variety of outings.

Torchlight Services provides a range of person-centred services and supports.  We offer meaningful opportunities and activities that focus on education, independence, social connections, leisure and recreational activities and active living participation.
