For nearly 30 years, residents of Antigonish have been talking about the potential of a skatepark and the positive impact it would have on the youth in our community. The goal with the skatepark project has always been to support youth in Antigonish by creating a space that celebrates active living and encourages participation and athleticism at any level. The Antigonish Skatepark will offer youth, young adults and families a new facility to get involved, grow and explore their talents, while also knowing they are a part of a community that supports their interests. Now, through the support and collaboration between the Town and County of Antigonish, St. Francis Xavier University and the Antigonish Skatepark Association, the community of Antigonish will have its very own All Wheels Skatepark in Fall 2019, to be designed and built by New Line Skate Parks.
Following a search for an appropriate location, St. Francis Xavier University generously donated a 13,753 square foot site on West Street across from their campus to serve as the destination for the Antigonish All Wheels Skatepark. To date, the Town and County have each contributed $83,500, the Province of Nova Scotia’s commitments are anticipated to be $167,000 and an anonymous community donor contributed $200,000, which leaves the remaining $167,000 up to the fundraising efforts of the Antigonish Skatepark Association.
Help us make a first-class all-wheels skate park a reality in Antigonish by making a donation today!
Please note that all funds raised will go to support the Antigonish Skate Park Association. All funds raised will be managed by the Town of Antigonish to complete the design and build project, and tax receipts will be issued on behalf of the municipality by Canada Helps.
