Our Mission To protect the environment by planting native trees and shrubs in the Hamilton area.
Our Background
We believe there is a strong link between trees and human health. The more trees, the better!
Our focus is to plant native trees and shrubs in areas of need in the Greater Hamilton Area. Environment Canada recommends a minimum of 30% tree cover. Hamilton’s current tree cover is 19%. We need more trees! Trees improve air quality, beautify the landscape, and sequester carbon. Ultimately, more trees will improve the health of everyone living and working in Hamilton.
For every $30 you donate, we plant one more tree in Hamilton. Your donation also contributes to our tree maintenance and volunteer program, ensuring that trees planted survive their vulnerable first years to maturity.
Our partners include Hamilton Parks, Royal Botanical Gardens, Hamilton Conservation Authority, local hospital and long-term care facilities. With the help of our Board of Directors and volunteers, we plant small tress which come in 1-2 gallon pots. These small trees are more resilient than seedlings and do not suffer root shock, which can be a problem for larger trees.
