The mission of the Truro Music Festival Society is to operate a competitive music festival each year in Truro that provides the best possible experience for young musical performers. The Society and Festival are operated solely by volunteers and depend upon community sponsorship and donations to fund operations and awards.
The Truro Music Festival hosts classes from early March to late April each year using three different musical venues. Classes provide the opportunity for young performers to demonstrate their skills in Musical Theatre, Monologues, Recitations, Jazz & Blues, Voice, Piano, Band and Choir in a formal, adjudicated environment. Independent, professional adjudicators provide individual, written feedback to each competitor designed to encourage continued participation and improvement in performance skills. An array of awards are given to recognize quality achievements, and selected students are encouraged to participate in the provincial music festival at the recommendation of adjudicators. In May, we host an awards concerts to celebrate the performers’ achievements. More details can be found on our website http://www.truromusicfestival.ca
