Tsi Tyónnheht Onkwawén:na provides Mohawk language and cultural programming at the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory (the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte). 

They run several programs, including Totáhne (At Grandma's House) for preschool children, Kawenna'ón:we Primary Immersion (K-4) and Shatiwennakará:tats, a year long program for Adults.

TTO started as a group of individuals concerned with the state of the Mohawk language at Tyendinaga. There were fewer and fewer speakers, and by the 1990's, it had been 60 years since any significant inter-generational language transmission.  The few remaining speakers were well into their 70's and there were no children speaking the language.

Tsi Tyónnheht Onkwawén:na receives most of its funding from the community through the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Band Council.  They have invested in the language in recognition of the importance it plays in maintaining our Mohawk identity.

TTO also depends on fundraisers and the generous gifts of individuals to run programs outside of the core operations.  Your gifts help run the K-4 Primary immersion school; allow for strategic purchases to support program operations; and often "seed" larger grants, where government programs and foundations require recipients to contribute in order to secure funding.

Tsi Tyónnheht Onkwawén:na is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency and income tax receipts will be issued by canadahelps.org.
