A summer-long festival in rural PEI, the IRF presents the very best in Canadian music and supports the restoration of St. Mary's Church.
The Historic St. Mary’s has been home to the world-famous Under the Spire Music Festival (formerly known as Indian River Festival) since 1996. The church, located in Indian River, Prince Edward Island, has a rich history which began in 1902 when it was built by Island architect, William Critchlow Harris. The Harris trademark, a rib-vaulted or groined ceiling, enhances the quality of sound which is also achieved with the use of fir, pine, spruce, maple and birch which you will see throughout the building.
Since incorporation, the Festival has been bringing the very best in classical, traditional, folk, jazz and world music to Historic St. Mary’s. An annual destination event for tourists and locals alike, it continues to facilitate restoration projects to preserve this beloved venue while maintaining a busy concert schedule from June-September each year.

Was blown away by the caliber of the talent & also the friendliness of their volunteer staff. It’s a world-class venue and lineup with hometown warmth and charm.

Can't think of any better reason to attend than getting the chance to hear international calibre musicians in an amazing space - the ambiance and acoustics are incredible - now with the reception area for intermission, it is a complete evening experience.
