Afghanistan Winter Emergency

Help families in Afghanistan protect themselves this winter.

The situation on the ground in Afghanistan is already so challenging, winter makes it much worse. Temperatures drop well below zero and up to a metre of snow in some areas.

This winter, UNHCR aims to distribute much needed humanitarian assistance to displaced Afghans.

To help an Afghan family survive winter, you can cover the cost of individual items or a whole kit. Here is how you can help:

  • $82 can provide 6 solar lanterns for a displaced Afghan family allowing access to practical, affordable, and clean energy.
  • $123 can provide 2 displaced Afghan families with warm blankets and 3 solar lanterns each.
  • $186 can provide tent insulation materials to 2 displaced families in Afghanistan, helping to prevent heat loss and survival through the cold.
  • $309 can provide 2 full Winter Emergency Kits containing warm blankets, 3 solar lanterns and proper tent insulation materials to reinforce their shelter and combat against the cold.
