The Venezuela emergency is one of the largest and most far-reaching of our time
Venezuela has traditionally hosted thousands of refugees from the region and other parts of the world. Now the number of people from Venezuela compelled to leave their homes continues to increase, and a significant number of them are in need of international protection.
Families continue to leave Venezuela due to violence, insecurity and threats, and lack of food, medicine and essential services. With over 4 million Venezuelans now seeking protection in neighbouring countries, this is the largest exodus in the recent history of Latin America.
We are protecting the most vulnerable arrivals with shelter, health care and documentation which allow them to access health, education and other services so they are not living in precarious situations. But we can't do this alone. Please donate today.
Your donation can provide Venezuelans with Refugee Housing Units
UNHCR has partnered up with Better Shelter and the IKEA Foundation to design the Refugee Housing Unit (RHU), an innovative housing solution now being deployed to Venezuelan refugees in Brazil and in refugee settlements around the world.
Struggling to survive away from home, refugee families require secure shelters that give them the peace of mind they need knowing they are safe. This is especially crucial for women and girls who are at increased risk of sexual and gender-based violence.
RHUs are Dignified, Durable and Sustainable:
- They protect against heavy rain, wind and sun
- Are free standing height and 9 airflow openings
- Requires no skilled labour to assemble
- They can be maintained and repaired over time
- They can be disassembled, moved and reassembled
Please, give generously with a 100% tax-deductible donation to UNHCR today. Venezuelan families are relying on you.
