COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund

In March 2020, the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic.

But it was in the weeks before that public health agencies, social services agencies, municipal governments and United Way Centraide gathered to see how we could support those most in need in local communities across Canada. Since then, grassroots groups have formed. Neighbours are helping neighbours. Volunteers are stepping up.

Everyone has an important role to play.

When you give, you will help support your local United Way to provide:

1. BASIC NEEDS: Ensure people have access to life’s essentials, such as food and shelter.

2. HELP FOR SENIORS: Ensure that while vulnerable people are isolated, they are also supported.

3. CAPACITY FOR COMMUNITY SERVICES: Ensure that community partners can continue to do their vital local work and enable the system navigation services like 211 to support them

We will get through this together.

We know that in our communities many people could not, and cannot, afford to adequately prepare for how COVID-19 is affecting their family. Many do not have supports, should they need to self-isolate. Those who already face barriers—things like poverty, homelessness and social isolation—need even more help during this time. The needs will continue to evolve. But, as you protect your family and those closest to you to keep them healthy, we urge you to think of those who may need the help of their neighbours.

Together we can keep our communities strong. If you’re able, please give generously today.
