Why focus on strong communities?
1 in 5 people are affected by mental health.
A community is only as strong as the sum of its parts, and strong, supportive, and inclusive neighbourhoods are vital to a thriving community. But in too many neighbourhoods across Oxford County, local residents are dealing with complex issues that prevent them from building a good life. For people living on a low income, or those facing critical social issues like domestic violence, social exclusion, and mental health challenges, opportunities to build a good life aren’t equally available. And we want to change that.
To address these complex issues, United Way and local funded partners invest in vital, community-based resources that help change lives. Helping people receive access to timely, client focused mental health support when they need it most. Together, we’re creating strong neighbourhoods where everyone has a sense of belonging and connection to one another.
This year, because of you:
317 individuals and youth accessed timely, free, client focused mental health support when they needed it most.
