The Uplands Cultural and Heritage Center is a registered charitable organization located at the Uplands Estate in Sherbrooke, dedicated to the preservation, support, and dissemination of the cultural, artistic, and historical traditions of the Eastern Townships.
The Centre serves as a meeting and exchange space for organizations and visitors interested in sharing the heritage of Lennoxville (a borough of Sherbrooke) and its surrounding region. Through exhibitions and cultural and educational activities, the Centre primarily supports multidisciplinary, intergenerational, and multicultural cultural expressions that reflect the regional diversity of artistic approaches and traditions.
About us
Every year, Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre welcomes over 8,000 visitors, who benefit from a wide variety of cultural and historical activities accessible for all ages.
Uplands is a heritage interpretation site as well as a cultural centre.
Heritage interpretation site
- Guided tours – these include interpretation of the historical and art exhibits, the gardens, offered by our bilingual guides (English/French)
- The Uplands Tea experience – the Uplands English Tea tradition is one element of the intangible heritage of the city of Sherbrooke, and our guides bring it to life for curious visitors.
- Educational activities organized for school groups at all levels
Cultural Centre
- Exhibits of contemporary works of art by regional artists: Approximately 7 exhibits and 40 artists are showcased annually
- Outdoor exhibits: 2 classical sculptures and 22 large format exhibition platforms in the wooded area surrounding Uplands
- Cultural mediation and educational workshops for children and adults (art, culture, history)
- Concerts–Chamber music concerts, student concerts, and Christmas concerts
- English gardens, park, and picnic area
- Meeting place for community organizations
