Business Number: 129836292RR0001

Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA) delivers 20+ culturally-responsive, prevention-focused programs to urban Indigenous youth in Metro Vancouver. Our youth-led approach helps Indigenous youth explore their personal goals - for education, work, culture, and life - in a fun, safe, and healthy environment that supports them to excel.

Youth are active at all levels of the organization, as participants, peer leaders, employees, and board members.

What People Are Saying

"I've struggled with family problems and through UNYA I've increased my self-esteem and worked on anger management. I'm working towards living a balanced life; healthy body and healthy mind."

"It is a great joy seeing Indigenous youth seize upon every opportunity to lay claim to their cultural and spiritual heritage. We have seen lives saved, families strengthened, and amazing futures shaped. It is nothing less than an honour to be part of this work."

— Linda Adams, President, Coming Home Society

"We all know that culture and community is stronger than trauma and suffering. UNYA offers youth the opportunity to reclaim their culture in a contemporary way, in a manner that works within the urban community. "

— Dr. Darien Thira

"I have seen the transformative change that the arts have had in so many young people’s lives, and want to help ensure that Native youth have meaningful access to arts and cultural activities, artists, and creative spaces such as OCM and UNYA's future Native Youth Centre."
