About VAN HORNE ESTATE ON MINISTERS ISLAND INC.
Ministers Island, accessible by driving across the ocean floor at low tide, is a beautiful island which retains the indelible impression of the visionary who worked to create the corporation (CPR) that shaped our country. Van Horne supplied the same vision to create a retreat which today stands as an important legacy of the lifestyle he enjoyed. The buildings that remain on Ministers Island have stood virtually untouched since his death in 1915. These buildings and the carriage trails which extend to the north of the 500 acre island bring a wonderful blend of architecture, fields, woods and beaches all in need of protection.
Ministers Island is a remarkable resource. As a provincial wildlife management area and a protected national and provincial historical site, it is recognized as being a significant value to the people of New Brunswick and Canada.
Funding is needed for building rehabilitation,infrastructure improvements and programming.
