Vancouver Cycling Without Age Society

about

Vancouver Cycling Without Age Society is a registered charity that provides recreational bicycle rides to seniors across the city of Vancouver. Volunteers on trishaws (tricycles with a 2-seater bench on the front) take seniors out for hour-long rides to enjoy fresh air and good conversation. Together they create connections, memories and smiles that enhance the lives of seniors and help them to break free from social isolation.

Social isolation can increase the risk of mortality for seniors at a greater rate than factors like obesity. Trishaw rides are accessible and highly therapeutic, as they give passengers an opportunity to socialize, move, and feel seen and valued by their community. We primarily serve seniors in long-term care homes, and also provide public rides to seniors and their families in the community.

Inspired by the global movement that started in Copenhagen, Denmark and has now spread to over 50 countries around the world, Vancouver Cycling Without Age Society was founded in 2018 and currently has over 20 volunteers, 6 trishaws and provides rides to partners and the community almost daily.

Please help us give seniors the right to feel wind in their hair!
