The 2026 fruit tree season is soon upon us. Across Vancouver, we see budding signs of abundance in our backyard trees. Soon our volunteers will be harvesting fruit that might otherwise go to waste and sharing the bounty with those who might not otherwise have access. But this season, the Vancouver Fruit Tree Project is facing an unexpected challenge.
Our primary source of operational funding is not available to us this year, challenging our 2026 operations. To help ensure we can continue harvesting and redistributing fruit across the city, we're launching a 30-day campaign to raise $5,000, starting today.
Will you help keep the harvest going?
If you've ever had your fruit tree harvested by our volunteers, picked fruit alongside us, or simply believe that good food shouldn't go to waste, please consider donating to help sustain our operations in 2026.
Over 26 years, our non-profit volunteer-run organization has harvested over 123,445 lbs of fruit and redistributed it to neighbourhood houses, community centres and fridges, shelters, mutual aid groups, and other partner organizations working to increase food security here in Vancouver. And while volunteers are at the heart of the Fruit Tree Project, funding sources are still needed to coordinate harvests, maintain equipment, and deliver fruit safely to our community partners.
Your donation will help keep this season’s harvests running.
