It is with great enthusiasm that we introduce you to VOLT Hockey Canada, and the exciting donation opportunities that make an impact on the lives of disabled youth both locally and nationally. We are laying the foundation for national opportunities by growing the VOLT Hockey Canada league in Southwestern Ontario, and most recently, we have put down roots in London, Ontario with the establishment of the London VOLT Hockey Club.Variety Ontario established the first Canadian VOLT Hockey team at Variety Village in Scarborough in 2019. Now, the league has grown to include five clubs in Ontario and two in Alberta. Joining over 50 teams worldwide, VOLT Hockey is part of Variety Ontario’s mission to build a robust province-wide league with interprovincial championships and an annual national tournament through the VOLT Hockey League of Canada.
ABOUT VOLT HOCKEY
Volt hockey is an accessible form of hockey that is played in an adapted sport hockey chair which allows people with a variety of abilities to play and join in with the sport Canadians love so much. VOLT Hockey is an international movement played by over 50 teams in Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the United States. The league is widespread in Europe but in its infancy in Canada. It is a variation of floor hockey using specially designed chairs for youths with disabilities. The sport allows them to engage in a social team-based environment and is one of the few sports that kids with a disability can play with their able-bodied siblings, allowing youth with disabilities to engage in Canada’s national sport – hockey.
OUR GOAL
Variety Ontario is continuing to build up the London VOLT Hockey Club in an effort to break down barriers and bring affordable, accessible opportunities to children of all abilities across the province. The continued expansion of VOLT Hockey across Ontario means growing the league and developing teams that can compete at regional, provincial and national levels. Your support will allow children with disabilities to go from being a hockey fan to a VOLT Hockey athlete.
