Help Love Our School

The Vernon Community Music School as a not-for-profit organization relies on the generous donations from its members, alumni and the community to continue to offer superior music experiences for the students.

The Smith House was built in 1908, and as such needs constant love and attention, and our school often has ongoing projects that require funds to maintain our programs and classes year after year. We know that it takes a community to help our school maintain the level of excellence we have developed over the years, and help to foster leadership skills for future community leaders. With your help, we will be able to continue supporting musicians in our community for generations to come. Help Love Our School!

Wood Shake Replacement

The gable ends on both our buildings need to be replaced. We have a woodpecker situation, where every Spring they peck away at the wood shakes and create giant holes. We have repaired the holes many times, but because the shakes are wood, the woodpeckers continue to do damage. Birds are now nesting in the holes, as well as squirrels. The sounds of the woodpeckers pecking, the birds nesting in the walls and attic space, as well as the squirrels running in between the floors are not only distracting and make it hard to focus, but they are creating higher levels of health risks associated with the inhalation of airborne particles from the resultant droppings.

Typically, birds can carry parasites like fleas, mites, and ticks, and transmit diseases to our students. Excrement often contains fungal diseases, which are especially dangerous to people with compromised immune systems. The droppings can stick to buildings, potentially eroding the structure. These birds can also create drainage issues and fire hazards by nesting in the small crevices, drains, and gutters of our buildings.

With over 400 families coming into our facilities on a weekly basis, we need to provide a learning environment that is as healthy and safe as possible. The Music School buildings needs to continue to be reliable and functional meet the demand for learning.

We appreciate all of the community love and support we have received so far, and we look forward to supporting local musicians and future community leaders for generations to come!
