The Upper Room Mission's primary goal is to express God's love and care for the underprivileged in our community. We seek to meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
About VERNON UPPER ROOM MISSION SOCIETY
The Upper Room Mission is a day shelter, dedicated to helping people less fortunate in our community. We provide meals, clothing and household needs, free computer access, a women's only drop-in center, as well as a listening ear when needed. We work closely with other service providers to help our clients find housing, counselling services, medical and dental care, treatment centers, income assistance, court requirements, employment options and education opportunities.
On average, we serve 300 meals a day, 5 days a week, and on weekends provide food to the Gateway Shelter, which is run by the John Howard Society. We assist low-income families, the disabled, seniors, and the homeless in our community. We provide a warm, safe environment for people in come in from the cold, enjoy a hot meal, and have their basic needs met in a respectful, welcoming manner.
What People Are Saying
"If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking daily food, and one of you says to them "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. "
— James 2: 15-17
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."
— 1 Peter 4:10
