Our Story:

For 26 years, the Victoria Film Festival has brought unique films, art, and creativity to our great city. Over the years, the Victoria Film Festival has expanded to offer events, educational programs, and screenings throughout the year, cementing its reputation as the centre for independent film and media arts on Vancouver Island.

Our Events & Programs:

February: Victoria Film Festival

The Victoria Film Festival is a yearly, 10 day-long international film festival taking place in Victoria, BC. VFF is the largest and longest running film festival on Vancouver Island, showcasing over 120 local, national, and international movies and attracting over 28,000 attendees. The VFF focuses on showcasing the art of independent filmmakers and media artists, bringing the best of innovative Indigenous, Canadian, and World cinema to Victoria.

June: FEAST: Food & Film

An inspiring experience pairing food-focused feature films with food, wine, and spirits. From the quirky to the sublime!

Spring & Summer: Movie Under the Maltworks

Kick back with a cold beer, a tasty snack, and a great cult-classic in the unique venue of the Phillips Brewery backyard. There’s always a quirky surprise to keep you on your toes!

August: Free-B Film Festival

Free, family-friendly films played under the stars every Friday and Saturday in August. Treasures from movie-making history in Beacon Hell park, what could be better?

October: Art of the Cocktail

Vancouver Island's largest cocktail party, celebrating the art, craft, and tradition of classic cocktails through seminars, competitions, special events, and everyone’s favourite, the Grand Tasting.

Year-Round: CineKids

Our educational programming that supports, encourages and inspires youth to explore the world of filmmaking. World-class filmmakers into schools, a youth short filmmaking competition, and one-hour filmmaking workshops -- all free programming for schools, libraries, and community centres.

Year-Round: The Vic Theatre 

Festival-quality films 365 days a year in Victoria's only licensed cinema. Also featuring fun events like Singalongs, retrospectives, theatre rentals, and the best concession in town (local beer, wine, and cheese)!
