Each season, the VOCA Chorus of Toronto performs two concerts, when we present sublime music from around the world with some of Canada's finest vocalists and instrumentalists. We believe that the music we make and the songs we sing are a special gift to our community - a way of connecting with neighbors, whether they live next door or across town - and we often hear from our audiences that sharing the beauty of music is an important part of their lives. Toronto musician Larry Beckwith described one our concerts this way: "That was a very special concert tonight ... a completely inclusive, unpretentious, deeply moving experience."
Because community choirs must provide musical scores, fees for our resident artists (artistic director, accompanist and professional section leads) and guest performers, as well as rehearsal and performance venues for our choristers, it's increasingly difficult to sustain a large organization like VOCA. Therefore, we're beginning an initiative called Friends of VOCA to invite our friends, neighbors, and audience members to join us in contributing to a special fund that will help offset the costs of supporting our choir.
Each season, we raise funds with coffee and bake sales, silent auctions, cabarets, and direct donations from choristers, but we also need the help of friends who love music as we do, and wish to help us continue to present wonderful choral music to our community.
Thank you for becoming a Friend of VOCA.
