The Family Support Fund supports families in Newfoundland and Labrador needing life-changing medical care and financial aid for their child/children. 

At VOCM Cares, our mandate is to raise funds for charitable causes involving health, education and safety.   We are happy to partner with the Janeway Foundation in creating the VOCM CARES JANEWAY PATIENT SUPPORT FUND.  This is a 5 year commitment; VOCM Cares will make a $20,000 donation each year. 

 The primary objective of the fund is to support pediatric patients and their families who are facing financial hardships due to medical treatment.  When families end up at the Janeway, there can often be unexpected or new expenses and this fund will help alleviate some of the stress that comes with that.  It can cover things such as specialized medical equipment, medications, counselling services, even assistance with meals and accommodations for the family.  The Fund will be overseen by a dedicated committee of Janeway staff, including social workers.  This committee will meet regularly, to review fund applications, assess for support and ensure the funds transparent and ethical operation. 

 We’ve had a long standing relationship with the Janeway through our VOCM Cares Childrens Trust Fund.   By transitioning to the VOCM Cares Janeway Family Support Fund, we aim to extend the support for even more families through the committees efforts.
