About WANUSKEWIN HERITAGE PARK AUTHORITY
Wanuskewin Heritage Park is home to one of Canada's historic treasures and a link to the past unlike any other heritage site in the country. The 760 acre property has for generations been the spiritural gathering place of seven Northern Plains First Nations. A beautiful network of trails and a striking interpretive centre help explain to visitors the significance of this region to life before European contact. This history is informed by the longest running active archeological research study in Canada, a project that has unearthed artifacts dating back 6,000 years.
Educational programming, ceremonies, traditional celebrations and cultural events still bring people to this place to learn, share and grow. A growing archive maintains First Nations art, oral histories, artifacts and symbolic objects for the enjoyment and enlightenment of visitors.
