A powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan’s northern Balkh and Samangan provinces this week, destroying homes and schools, injuring hundreds, and displacing thousands.
This comes just two months after a 6.0 earthquake rocked Northern Afghanistan and our teams have been providing critical emergency resources to families impacted.
This week, our War Child Afghanistan team, based in Balkh, joined emergency assessments within 24 hours, but we need additional resources to support the most immediate needs:
- Emergency shelter and essential household items
- Psychosocial support for children and families
- Protection services for women and vulnerable groups
- Cash assistance to help families meet urgent needs
