Warm And Cozy Children's Charity was granted CRA registered charity status on 2015-05-27.

We had operated ad hoc for seven years prior to that. 

From small beginnings in 2009 of helping one child in need of warm winter clothing we have grown to providing, this past 2016/17 season, three hundred children in need of warm and cozy winter clothing.

The needy children are identified by the teachers who are close to them and have the clearest insight into their circumstances. The teachers provide the first name of the child and their clothing sizes. We do not "second guess" the teachers requests. There is no means test. If a teacher tells us a child is in need then we respond wiyh a delivery, usually within 24 hours.

Volunteers buy hats, snow suits, gloves, boots underwear and a small personal gift according to the information provided by the teachers.  The clothing is put into large red sacks with a Santa Claus emblem.  The schools call them "Santa Sacks" and they are gleefully welcomed at the start of each winter. 

In the 2016/17 season Warm and Cozy supplied six schools in the Heart of Georgian Bay community.  The effect can be best illustrated by a  card of thanks from Robbie Loch, Vice Principal of Tay Shores in which she said,

" I just want to personally thank you for what you bring to our school, it is more than food and clothing.  You bring hope, joy and love! YOU CHANGE LIVES!, have a very merry Christmas, Robbie"

This work can only be done with donations from individuals and organisations within the community.

All funding goes to the children.  No remuneration is taken by the founders or the volunteers.
