Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Canada was registered as a Canadian charity in 2004 to help fill an urgent need for stronger conservation science in Canada.
Our mission is to save wildlife and wild lands in Canada by using science to drive conservation action, and by inspiring people by connecting them to the wonders of the natural world.
We are the only national environmental organization generating and using science to directly inform and define large-scale wildlife and conservation initiatives. Our conservation scientists work in the field to fill key information gaps on Canada’s fish, wildlife, and ecosystems. We then use relevant information and our expertise, working with Government and regulatory agencies, conservation groups, indigenous communities and industry, to resolve critical conservation issues.
We are part of the WCS Global network, which was founded in 1897, making WCS the oldest registered environmental NGO in North America. WCS Global operates conservation programs in 65 countries and has a rich history of work in Canada.
