Our Mission

Our GOAL is to build on women's prior knowledge and increase their self-confidence by teaching a variety of awareness, avoidance and verbal self-defence stategies, and simple, practical physical techniques that are designed to be effective even against a larger and stronger attacker.

We BELIEVE that women can use their bodies effectively, as they are -- older or younger, athletic or not, disabled or non-disabled -- to resist or defuse violent situations

About WEN-DO WOMEN'S SELF-DEFENCE CORPORATION

Wen-Do Women's Self Defence is a program designed for women and girls. The physical and verbal skills are easy to use and easy to remember. Women and girls learn to protect themselves in a wide range of situations.

Courses are open to all women, including women with disabilities, older women, young women, women of colour, lesbians and women of all financial means. Wen-Do believes in giving women and girls choices, alternatives to being victims. We recognize that women have a wealth of experience and information. We reinforce the positive aspects of the way in which women are currently dealing with the threat and fear of violence in our lives. We do not issue a list of do's and don'ts, but share information to encourage self trust and success.
