About West Toronto KEYS to INclusion
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
In September 2011 KEYS’ launched the daily Lunch ’n Learn activity held in the Junction neighbourhood.
This is a daily lunchtime activity that combines an opportunity for life skills learning with the social activity of eating lunch together. The “learn” is integrated into the activities that consist of planning, shopping, preparing and cleaning up after lunch which is enjoyed with fellow learners and members of the community.
Keys to recreation, new skills such as navigation as well as physical fitness are all incorporated into the week's activities.
Our KEYS participants are also community contributors through their employment / volunteer work in the neighbourhood.
KEYS provides both a physical place (a “hub”) in which to meet and learn, and opportunities for community engagement. We continue to establish and maintain strong relations with our Junction business partners to allow KEYS' Contributors active neighbourhood participation.
