Our Mission

The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre promotes health, safety and wellness in our communities. We provide individuals and families with, and connect them to, community, social and health services across the region.

About Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre

The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre provides health and social services to communities in far west Ottawa. Founded in 1986, the WOCRC has grown exponentially, now serving over 10,000 community members every year.

Our staff and volunteers support western Ottawa residents throughout all of life’s stages by:

• Providing a welcoming, inclusive space for the parents of young children to meet, learn, and share experiences at our over thirty programs a week

• Reducing isolation and loneliness experienced by older adults aged 55+ and adults with disabilities by providing opportunities to participate in activities that promote social interaction and strengthen wellbeing

• Reducing isolation and loneliness experienced by older adults aged 55+ and adults with disabilities by providing opportunities to participate in activities that promote social interaction with others;
• Offering counselling to adults, youth and children, including women and children that have experienced violence

• Providing a safe home at Chrysalis House for women and their dependents who have experienced violence in the home

• Offering 2SLGBTQIA+ youth a place to learn new skills and connect with their peers

• Supporting rural and suburban areas with health promotion and community development services to ensure underserved communities have access to program that address issues such as income, poverty, education, transportation, environment, isolation and social exclusion

• Providing a safe space for adults living with dementia to socialize and participate in engaging activities; while offering crucial respite for their caregivers
