About Arts Whistler
The Whistler Arts Council (conducting business as Arts Whistler) was established in 1982 as a registered charity with a mandate to build and integrate arts into the fabric of the Whistler community. Originally volunteer-based, Arts Whistler has grown into a registered charity with a governing board of directors, a team of seventeen staff, and more than one hundred active volunteers.Today, Arts Whistler is a significant leader in the community with an annual budget of approximately $1.6 million and a permanent home in the Maury Young Arts Centre, which it manages on behalf of the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW). A valued community stakeholder and registered charity, Arts Whistler increases arts engagement through year-round festivals, community programs, and local and regional cultural planning initiatives. Offering a diverse range of workshops, events, and festivals for children, youth, and adults, Arts Whistler seeks to encourage self-expression and inspire creativity in community members (and visitors) of all ages.
