Wild Hearts Thoroughbred Adoption Society is a Registered Charity providing aftercare for retiring thoroughbred racehorses. This includes rehabilitating + proper transitioning + basic retraining + finding suitable, well matched adoptive forever homes for thoroughbred racehorses coming off the track. Wild Hearts works directly with concerned and caring owners when their horses are retiring. Horses accepted into the program experience a peaceful transition with friends, freedom & space to roam and forage while they begin ground and basic re-training under saddle in preparation for their new homes and next adventures.
We heavily advocate for 'retire one race early', ahead of more debilitating injuries to ensure all retiring thoroughbreds have a wide range of opportunities and potential homes 'after the races'.
We are also the pioneer of the vision of 'aftercare for all', not just the Kentucky Derby winners or those needing extensive rehabilitations. We believe that ALL the horses who make the sport possible have earned and deserve proper aftercare to transition into their new adoptive homes.
