Wildlife Habitat Canada (WHC) envisions a future where Canadians share a conservation ethic that recognizes the fundamental importance of wildlife habitats that are abundant, rich and support biodiversity.

Without habitat, there is no wildlife ... it's that simple!

Our Vision

Healthy wetlands and waterfowl populations as a vital part of Canada's ecosystems for the benefit of all Canadians.

Our Mission

Conserve wildlife habitat by wisely investing Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp funds contributed by waterfowl hunters.

  • Provide a funding mechanism for wildlife habitat conservation programs in Canada.
  • Promote the conservation, restoration and enhancement of wildlife habitat in order to retain the diversity, distribution and abundance of wildlife.
  • Foster coordination and leadership in the conservation community across Canada.

Wildlife Habitat Canada (WHC) is a national, non-profit, charitable conservation organization that was established in 1984 by Environment Canada, provincial wildlife agencies and conservation organizations. Through its programs, WHC works with communities, landowners, governments, non-government organizations, and industry to conserve, enhance, and restore wildlife habitat.

Since the establishment of the its Grant Program in 1985, WHC has invested over $50 million to support more than 1,500 conservation projects across Canada.

Funds invested to support the Grant Program come from the purchase of the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp, and Stamp and Print Program.
