About WINNIPEG'S CONTEMPORARY DANCERS
Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers is Canada's longest running and one of its most respected modern dance companies. Formed in 1964 by Rachel Browne, WCD grew by the mid-70's to encompass the School of Contemporary Dancers, an apprentice program, a subscription series and touring on a national and international level.
WCD is committed to the training and development of dancers, choreographers, teachers, technicians, designers and arts administrators. During its 58-year history, the Company has worked with scores of exceptional Canadian and international artists, establishing a reputation for presentation of dance of the highest quality. It has presented hundreds of performances of commissioned and remounted creations, for audiences across the country and abroad. WCD has had a significant impact on both the development and the standard of contemporary dance in Canada.
