Help Keep Her Safe

We are excited to launch the 2023 #HelpKeepHerSafe Campaign!

The #HelpKeepHerSafe campaign began in 2020 as domestic violence skyrocketed 30%, and women's participation in the labour market fell to the lowest numbers since 1999. The funds raised through this campaign allow us to meet women's individual needs as they emerge, continue all core programming, and even increase our support!

The campaign strives to continue meeting the needs of women in our community who are experiencing violence or facing socioeconomic barriers to success. #HelpKeepHerSafe recognizes the meaning of 'safe' and 'help' are not the same for all women; each woman has different needs to keep themselves and their family safe. This funding allows us to do just that.

In 2022, the campaign helped us to:

  • Provide $7,370 in grocery assistance

  • Distribute $803 in transit support

  • Give out $800 in personal need bags

  • Provide $1500 in clothing support

  • Distribute $21,790 to 74 families through winter warmth

In 2023, WCYR will continue to focus on helping women rebuild safely.

The pandemic disproportionately impacted women's economic, social and personal well-being with long-lasting effects. As we continue the road to recovery, women’s quality of life, well-being and access to basic needs, such as housing and food, are again at-risk due to inflation and rising interest rates (Canadian Women's Foundation, 2023).

That's why in 2023, WCYR will continue to focus on helping women rebuild safely by removing barriers and increasing the tangible support provided through #HelpKeepHerSafe, ensuring all women can access the wraparound support they need to achieve a sustainable livelihood.

With your support, we can help.

Please consider donating today or creating an even bigger impact by becoming a Change-Maker! For as little as $25 a month, you can help a woman access the support and services she needs to progress toward a sustainable livelihood!
