Mission
Women’s Habitat of Etobicoke is a community-based organization providing vital support to women and their dependents who are survivors of violence and poverty. Founded in 1978, our emergency shelter and our outreach centre, established in 2006, offers a suite of services including group and individual counselling, parenting support and housing assistance.
Our mission is to provide a safe refuge, counselling, support and advocacy for women and their children who are fleeing violence; while also working towards a more equal society where the inherent value of all women is recognized and celebrated.
Services offered at the Outreach Centre include individual and group counselling, transition and support services, housing assistance, parenting support and services for young women.
Our 25 bed emergency shelter provides safety and refuge for women and children fleeing violence. We provide women with housing and legal supports and ensure children have the help they need to overcome the violence they have witnessed or experienced. Residents receive support, counselling and referrals to community services such as legal aid, subsidized childcare and housing.
