Women’s Para Hockey of Canada (WPHC) is more than just a sports organization—it is a movement. We are the national program dedicated to providing elite-level competition, grassroots development, and a powerful community for girls and women+ with disabilities across the country.
From coast to coast, our roster represents the incredible diversity of Canada. Our athletes are students, professionals, and mentors who share a singular, unbreakable bond: the love of the game. While Para ice hockey has traditionally been a male-dominated space, our team is proving that the ice has no gender.
Our Mission: The Road to 2030
For years, our athletes have trained in the shadows, competing at the highest levels without the official recognition of the Paralympic stage. That is about to change.
Our primary focus is the 2030 Paralympic Winter Games. Everything we do—every practice, every development camp, and every international exhibition—is a step toward making history. We are working tirelessly to meet the international participation requirements to ensure that by 2030, Canadian women are not just watching from the stands, but competing for gold on the world’s biggest stage.
"Our team's time is coming. We aren't just playing for ourselves; we are playing for every girl with a disability who hasn't been told yet that she belongs on the ice."
The Challenge: Beyond "Pay-to-Play"
Unlike many national-level programs, Women's Para Hockey in Canada has historically operated on a "pay-to-play" model. Our athletes often shoulder the burden of:
-
Specialized Equipment: Custom-built sleds and sticks are essential but expensive.
-
Travel & Training: National camps and international tournaments require significant travel costs.
-
Ice Time & Coaching: Securing accessible facilities and expert coaching is a constant financial hurdle.
To compete with the best in the world and secure our spot in 2030, we must remove these financial barriers. We believe that talent, not a bank account, should determine who wears the Maple Leaf.
Why Your Support Matters
Every dollar donated through CanadaHelps goes directly toward leveling the ice for our athletes. Your contribution supports:
-
Elite Training Camps: Providing the high-performance environment our players need to excel.
-
Grassroots Recruitment: Finding and fostering the next generation of female Para hockey stars.
-
International Competition: Funding the travel necessary to gain the world rankings required for Paralympic inclusion.
Join us on the journey to 2030. Your support doesn't just fund a team; it fuels a legacy of inclusion, strength, and Canadian excellence.
