Studying how the news depicts women may not sound exciting, but it will help change the lives of millions of women around the world. In the news, women are often portrayed in ways that are biased or stereotyped, and sometimes they are simply absent. Yet, by rights, the news media should provide fair and balanced coverage.

The GMMP studies the news in more than 135 countries, looks for good and bad coverage, and weighs up the results. It then works with producers and editors to do better. It's as simple as that!
