About Wyndham House:
We provide supports and services to at-risk, vulnerable and homeless youth.
Youth Emergency Shelter
- Short term (30 day) stays to address emergency housing crisis
- Referrals and supports regarding housing and planning for the future.
- Programming and physical activities.
- Access to Basic Needs: includes a health clinic, laundry services, meals and shower services which are available to any youth in need.
Long Term Residences
- Longer stays for youth attending school
- Skills Development Program: builds on the strengths that youth, residing in our long term residential programs, already possess in order to enhance the life skills that prompt self-sufficiency and self-worth.
Youth Resource Centre
- Outreach: assists youth to overcome barriers, developing essential life skills and building a support system that is accessible and sustainable.
- Aftercare: works towards a successful transition from the shelter or residences to independent living; then continues to provide resources and support such as landlord advocacy, acquisition of household needs, food and transportation.
- STEPS: provides an opportunity for youth to experience barrier-free recreational programming. It focuses on early intervention strategies and youth engagement
Partly funded by the United Way and Wellington County Social Services, Wyndham House relies on donations, fundraising events and grants to generate almost one-third of the budget required to operate it's residential program.
