About
Wilma's Transition House, formerly known as Xolhemet Transition House is a non-profit organization established in 1988. We have two facilities including a first stage transition house and a second stage long term housing program.
Mission Statement
Wilma's Transition House's mission is to improve the lives of victims of family violence through safe shelter; intervention and support; educating the public about domestic violence and advocating for social change towards breaking the cycle of abuse.
Wilma's Transition House
The transition house is an 18 bed facility offering a free and temporary safe haven for women and their children, who are the victims of family violence situations. The maximum length of stay is one month. Our second stage facility is 5 suite apartment building.
Second Stage
Second stage offers groups and one on one counselling and well as weekly children's groups. The minimum length of stay is 6 months and the maximum length of stay is two years.
