YCC - Youth Centres of Calgary creates a cozy, cool and inviting “home away from home” providing kids of low income, ages 8-15 with exactly what they need every day:
1. Healthy relationships with people who care about them.
2. Secure access to an abundance of healthy food.
3. A safe place to be a kid every day after school and during the summer months.
YCC’s two refurbished and rezoned homes, located in the SE communities of Ogden and Forest Lawn, are open every day after school and during the summer break.
The centres offer nutritious meals, sports coaching, art, music lessons, mentorship and guidance, books to read, gardening and access to technology. And it's all free!
The homes face large green spaces and are walking distance to school and home. The kids arrive by the dozens every day for free sports and day camps all summer long. We believe that every community like Ogden and Forest Lawn would benefit greatly from a free and welcoming youth centre where qualified and caring staff, practicum students and volunteers level the playing field for the kids of Calgary.
