The Yellow Door Choir is unique among choirs. We perform an eclectic variety of music; our repertoire now spans at least 19 languages. Our mission includes not only the sharing of music but also the profits from our performances with charitable organizations in the community. The choir takes its music into the community, performing at seniors' residences, and community centres. Altogether, more than 60 charities have benefited from the choir’s efforts. Our concert-goers always delight in the intermission bake sale, where all proceeds raised go directly to the sponsored charity.
Ensemble performances are another of the distinguishing features of the Yellow Door Choir. An ensemble is a small group of choir members who come together to perform a piece of music that they themselves have chosen. The music director offers coaching as required, and the final piece is featured in that season's concert program.
Our LAST Concert: May 24 and 25, 2019
Verdi & Gershwin Share the Stage
In Verdi and Gershwin Share the Choral Stage, the Yellow Door Choir and Director Roxanne Martel bring you two Spring concerts featuring an eclectic mix of Broadway and opera. Friends, family, and fans can sample music from Purcell in the 17th Century to tunes from the contemporary stage: everything from les Mis to the Wiz, Irving Berlin to Miss Saigon, Evita to Rent. On stage are a suite from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and choral arrangements from Puccini, von Weber and Verdi.
Our charity partner for this session is The Elizabeth House Foundation, supporting vulnerable families in our community through the programs of Elizabeth House.
Our NEXT Concert: January 2020
