Pine River Watershed Initiative Network, or PRWIN, as we call it, was started in 2000 by a group of individuals who were concerned about the water quality in the Pine River. In 2005, PRWIN became a committee of Huron-Kinloss Council and focused on improving the water quality in the Watershed by promoting stewardship and landowner involvement. Our clear vision of "Clean water and a healthy ecosystem within the Pine River Watershed" was established. In 2008, PRWIN became an independent organization and established a constitution to govern its operation. PRWIN obtained charitable status in 2009 within the province of Ontario. PRWIN has evolved thanks to dedication and hardwork of volunteers within the community. PRWIN has implemented the following projects; Tree Planting, Wind Breaks, Exclusion Fencing, Berm Construction, Wetland Development, Bank Restoration, Alternate solar powered water supplies and an Environmental Study Area-McLarty ESA.
The Three main branches of the Pine River Watershed are; -South Pine River -Clark Creek -Royal Oak Creek.
