Quadra Island Climate Action Network was first formed in 2008 when a small group of Quadra Islanders got together to ask what could be done locally about fossil fuel use. In 2020, Quadra ICAN received registered charity status. We aim to assist Quadra Island in becoming more resilient and self-sufficient in the face of ecological challenges. Our mandate is to organize and foster direct action on clearly defined practical projects.

We have identified eight areas in which effective community action can be taken; food security, water security, practical water solutions, energy self-sufficiency, do-it-yourself support, a free store, living lightly (reuse & recycling), and transportation. These action teams continually identify and complete specific projects, all in the interest of climate change resiliency and self-sufficiency on Quadra.
