The Aurora Sports Hall of Fame (ASHoF) is a celebration of sport history and excellence, recognizing sport’s important place in Aurora. It is both a physical and virtual place of history, to stimulate pride in our community’s accomplishments.

It is a place of education, with more than 90 artifacts to showcase how far our Inductees have come. It is a place of community, where young and old can gather to appreciate Aurora’s rich culture and heritage.

To date, we have inducted 38 outstanding athletes, coaches and builders including such people like; Lois Thompson, Paolina Allan, Mike Kitchen, Mike Palmateer, Mike Murphy, Cal Bouchard, Brian Stemmle, Frank Stronach, Alan Dean, Ryan & Dave Gardner, Colin Graham, and Karen Stemmle.

Our Story

In 2011 the newly incorporated Sport Aurora, now with 42 Member Organizations, included the development of a Sports Hall of Fame as a priority within their Strategic Plan. An Aurora Sports Hall of Fame Organizing Committee was formed that included a variety of stakeholders with the objective to research this possibility.

In November 2012 a Feasibility Study was completed and refined for submission to the Ontario Trillium Foundation in July of 2013. In November of that year, just days after the first successful Induction Celebration Dinner was organized, a Grant in the amount of $192,500.00 over three years was awarded.

The Aurora Sports Hall of Fame is operated by slate of wonderful volunteers with the assistance of our partner at the Town of Aurora.
