Established in 1990, Ballenas Housing Society (formerly Nanaimo Affordable Housing Society) is a non-profit registered charity governed by a committed and dynamic volunteer Board of Directors.

Our current property portfolio includes over 850 homes designed for low-to-moderate income independent residents living in Nanaimo and Parksville. Ballenas communities offer a mix of rental rates based on demonstrated need from deep subsidy to low end of market and rent geared to income (RGI).
