British Columbia Insight Meditation Society's mission is to practice, carry on, promote and perpetuate Buddhist teachings and practice in British Columbia and throughout Canada, in particular the Theravadan Buddhist traditions and practices of Metta and Vipassana meditation.

?We respond to this mandate by supporting many weekly meditation sitting groups, sponsoring residential and non-residential retreats, offering beginners’ meditation classes, leading essential dharma teaching programs, and participating in compassion-in-action activities.

We rely entirely on volunteers. Participants in our programs are invited to donate toward the cost of renting facilities, etc., but we have no paid staff and our teachers offer their teachings freely, receiving only donations (dana) offered freely by participants.

?We welcome with gratitude your donations for scholarships for retreat registrants who cannot afford the full registration fee, and for our on-going operating costs. We invite one-time donations or monthly giving. Income tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more.
