The Elements Society develops leaders who are empowered to inspire others with social, environmental and economic responsibility in their schools, workplaces and communities for positive and sustainable impacts.
Since 2003, school-wide projects have been delivered by student teams to change behaviour, increase wellbeing and establish a sustainability culture. Communities positively impacted include:
- 580 schools
- 200,000 students (Gr. 3-12)
- 3,000 teachers
- 2,500 volunteers and community partners
- 38 school districts in British Columbia and Alberta
This multi-year, student-driven program increases sustainability by developing leadership teams in schools that work on real-world problems in their school. All teams measure and track the impact of their project and assess the benefits to their school community. Teams are comprised of multi-stakeholders in the school community. Students learn about stakeholder involvement to successfully implement their school-wide projects.
