McMaster Children’s Hospital is home to the only Pediatric Cancer Program in south-central Ontario and cares for more than 800 cancer patients annually, with more than 100 new patients diagnosed each year.
A fundraising campaign is underway to refurbish the third-floor oncology clinic to improve the delivery of care and enhance the patient experience.
Part of the campaign will help renovate the unit’s pharmacy area where chemotherapy is prepared. The pharmacy plays a critical role in supporting the care received by children and youth diagnosed with cancer.
Staff and patient safety is a high priority on the unit, and the renovations will give the pharmacy team an environment that enables chemotherapy to be prepared in a safer, more efficient and timely manner.
Proceeds from the campaign will also add additional upgrades to examination rooms and waiting areas in the clinic, creating an innovative and welcoming environment that better addresses the needs of patients and families.
Your support is vital to help us improve the quality of life for children with cancer.
