To encourage the development of the performing arts from all cultural traditions and to provide a venue in the Northwest Territories.
The Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC) is a 297 seat theatre, with an additional 4 accessible seats, located in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada. It was built with the help of the Globe and Mail newspaper publisher, whose fundraising efforts raised money from various sources across Canada. It is the only fully equipped live performance theatre in the Northwest Territories.
NACC is a non-profit charitable organization, incorporated in February of 1981, operating under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors, with four in house staff members, and supported by valued funders, sponsors, community interests, partner organizations, society members, and community volunteers.
For nearly 40 years, NACC has been a venue and supporting agency for Northern, national, and international artists. We operate a variety of programming in communities throughout the NWT on an ongoing basis. From educational workshops, to performing artist mentorships, to touring performances, the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre is a vital part of the NWT community.
It is our honour to present artistic programming on the traditional territory of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis across the six regions of NWT, and treaties 8 and 11.
