Un endroit où les Canadiens peuvent aider à sauver les populations d'orangs-outans sauvages et leur habitat dans la forêt tropicale.

Orangutan Foundation International Canada is a registered Canadian charity established in 2011 which achieved official charity status in 2012. Our goal is to support the efforts of Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, board president, who is Canadian and her international organization (Orangutan Foundation International) in their work to save wild orangutans and their rainforest habitat.
Based out of Vancouver B.C. and founded by a small group of Canadians passionate about orangutans, forests, and the conservation of Indonesia’s wealth of wildlife and habitat, OFIC was started as a way to increase Canadian involvement and awareness of Dr. Galdikas’s efforts in Indonesia.
Orangutan Foundation International Canada seeks to educate the Canadian public, school children, and government entities about orangutans, tropical rain forests, and the threats to wild orangutan survival and their forest habitats. OFIC was created to enable concerned Canadians to contribute directly to these efforts through a Canadian foundation.
The purposes of the society are:
- to conserve and protect orangutans through the operation of an orangutan rehabilitation facility and orangutan release camps in Indonesia
- to conserve and protect the tropical rain forests in Indonesia, which constitute the orangutans’ habitat
- to study orangutans and their ecology in order to develop best practices for their protection and conservation
- to educate and increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the importance of orangutans, their ecology, rain forests, and conservation issues through educational seminars, printed materials and the internet
